Abu Dhabi Tourist Huckstering Tent- Times Sq 2012

As 2015 limps out and we stare into the lion's maw of 2016, I decided it was time to clean up some old computer files. Always interesting to find old pictures; set aside and never posted. Which brings me to the subject of this post:

The Abu Dhabi Tourista "Hospitality" Tent and a look back at Times Square 2012.

"Inside, guests were shuttled through various stations, treated to platters of dates, tiny cups of strong coffee, henna tattoos, dabs of essential oils like frankincense and sandalwood, and photos of themselves (to be posted online) posing in traditional Arabic garb along with a rather timid-looking falcon.

"The seductive red glow seeping out of a massive white tent at Duffy Square in Times Square drew a steady stream of curious visitors —part of a free, four-day pop-up visitors center, A Taste of Abu Dhabi, set up by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority....

... to raise awareness of this United Arab Emirates capital as a beautiful, cultured, cutting-edge travel destination. The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority wants Times Square and the world to know you are welcome to visit to the Capital of the United Arab Emirates."

Taking over New York City’s Times Square to show just how friendly Abu Dhabi is and to celebrate the launch of its new US office in New York’s Trump Tower. " (of all places!)

"The 18 x 12m pop-up tent featured five areas – taste, sound, sight, touch and scent. Offering dates, coffee, falcon’s, henna artists, and perfume mixologists. 

 

   

She continues: "An amazing fact, Agarwood oil, also known as Oud oil, is an extremely rare and precious natural oil obtained from several species of Agarwood (Aquilaria sp.) trees.  Agarwood trees must be infected by a fungi, prior to producing an oleoresin which saturates the wood. With prices of up to $13,000 per pound, this oil is more expensive than gold.  Agarwood is so rare, and so highly valued in Japan and the Middle East (where most of it ends up), it is little known in the West."

At the pop up tent I had a chance to smell this precious commodity."

"Etihad Airways, also present, welcomed guests with giveaways. Etihad Airlines (in 2012)  operated daily from Abu Dhabi to New York and Chicago, with plans to launch a daily flight to Washington DC in March (of 2013). Abercrombie & Kent, Cox & Kings, Linara Travel, Ritz Tours and Goway Travel also introduced travel packages.

A final stop featured a promotional video about Abu Dhabi, chock full of images including architectural wonders, wide sandy deserts, beautiful beaches, the iconic YAS Hotel and the world’s largest theme park, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, with the world’s fastest roller coaster."

Video footage shows the lure of the art of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Masdar City – the world’s first carbon-neutral, zero-emissions city." (Oh My)

Vacationing in Abu Dhabi? Today, in 2015,  Abu Dhabi might not be so easily promoted as a SAFE destination, especially for women. (see links to rape, murder & etcetera).

"In 2014, Robert Alan Black, a 70-year-old American, was arrested in the UAE for taking a photograph of a venue that authorities had declared off-limits for photos. In 2013, an American man, Shezanne Cassim, was imprisoned for making a 19-minute video that made fun of teens from Dubai."

 

But, there it was. In 2012.


A Taste of Abu Dhabi’s "Hospitality" Tent and ... since it was there .... Curiosity got the better of me: I got on line.

I had to see what they were "selling" (as far as tourism goes) in the 'Taste of Abu Dhabi" Tent ....
It was a bit of a wait. But, once inside, I went through pretty quickly.

However, if you were into the perfumes and henna, I guess you stayed longer.

 

  Slick. Smooth. (Romantic.)
The Desert. The Tent. The Naive Traveler embraced by Perfumes, Oils and Henna-Art.

PRETTY. Oh. So. Pretty ....

Transparency: Not an option. Sharia Law: Never mentioned.  The GLOBAL Islamic War: Unmentioned. (Ignored by some. Unnamed by others)

But - the coup de gras? This embarrassing picture - ME!  With an Arab, the Desert and a Hawk.

Sharia Lawfare came a-knockin' ... and we Let It IN ....

I begin with a flashback. 2011 . NY Law School held a two day Sharia Lawfare Symposium.

This Sharia Lawfare Symposium was a two day commercial for Islam, as they pushed their bridge building narrative and deftly denied any perceived threat from Sharia Law.

Clearly NY Law School, a school where American lawyers are taught U.S. Law, was supportive of the movement to make U.S. Law Sharia Compliant. What else could they be thinking? Since they preceived no threat. The links that follow are to the 2011 symposium.

Now, four years later. 2015. How goes it on the Western Front?

Is the West any more informed when it comes to the threat of Sharia Law? Are we any wiser? Perhaps some, but not enough. Particularly when we observe our government's PC side-stepping when it comes to the Islamic Global threat.

Recently we are being offered more knowledge to fight this wall of disinformation. The Fight for Free Speech Rally on January 17, 2015 was made even more vivid by the vicious attack on Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs Blog. Free Speech is under attack. The blog was shut down, the servers melted by a cyber-attack,  just days before the Freedom Defense Initiative's Free Speech Rally was held in Garland, Texas. Geller said,

 "My site host, Media Temple, said they couldn’t cope with the attack against my site. They had never in their history seen anything like it. The DDoS attack didn’t just take down my site. It also took down Media Temple and threatened all of their clients, and even attacked the servers that Media Temple uses at Net Data Center, a service provider that promises “uninterrupted operations.” Net Data Center could not handle the massive traffic that the attackers were sending to my site to take it down, and finally had to pull the plug on Atlas Shrug"

Continuing with the rally on January 17th in Garland, Texas.  They rallied for Free Speech. A fight that Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer helped to organize .

She reminded the crowd that "TRUTH is a Revolutionary Act". "

From Robert Spencer,  " Stand With the Prophet Against Terror and Hate" was also billed as a fundraiser for a center to teach Muslims how to combat negative depictions of their faith.   Hosted by Muslim Brotherhood operatives and Unindicted terrorist co-conspirator Siraj Wahhaj.  Spencer also said, “They have too long controlled the discourse and shut down any honest examination of the motives and goals of terrorists by crying ‘Islamophobia.’

"The Stand for Freedom of  Speech" rally was a huge success. A fabulous turnout of grass roots America that turned out in large numbers to counter the ill-timed “Stand with the Prophet” conference taking place there.

"Held just 10 days after the horrific attack in Paris that left 16 dead, the annual forum was billed by organizers as a “movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message,” with an emphasis on opposing “Islamophobes in America.”

"Stand With the Prophet Against Terror and Hate" -  was hosted by a public school (the Curtis Culwell Center (Garland Independent School District property) - an event that was dedicated to eradicating "Islamophobia".

Later, Geller pointed out that the "Media coverage of the ‪#‎freespeechrally‬ was vicious and dishonest. Absurd, they're killing journalists."

She also said, “The media can smear us and the President can stand with them. We the people are not having it.”

Freedom of speech.  AMERICA is not interested in abrogating our freedoms in the name of diversity. STAND AGAINST SHARIA
