 On September 20th , 2025, world leaders gathered in New York City for the UN General Assembly and Climate Week.

This was a 'critical moment' to show the world that they - the protestors- "were revolting against Trump and the "Billionaire Class."

Make Billionaires Pay was part of a series of international mobilizations for climate justice .... with a focus on shutting down billionaires, fascists, and polluters, while lifting up immigrant justice and anti-militarism/genocide as "key pieces of our fight." [The Peoples Forum]

The People’s Forum and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, both funded by China-based former software exec Neville Singham- a socialist benefactor of far-left causes and an admirer of Maoism. (all coordinated from his base in Shanghai) He has become a major funder of left-wing activist networks. [NY Post] 

The Make Billionaires Pay was organized by groups like the Women's March, Climate Defenders, Desis Rising Up and Moving (DRUM) and 350.org.

Thousands of Socialist/ Communist/anarchists marched in NYC demanding an end to the Rule of Billionaires. "The White House, the whole system has prioritized profits over peoples’ needs."

As of January 2026, there are at least 80 billionaires attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos , Switzerland. 

• Wealth Advocacy: Nearly 400 millionaires and billionaires from 24 countries signed an open letter timed for the 2026 summit, urging global-leaders to increase taxes on the super-rich to address wealth-inequality.
• Context of Global Wealth: The 2026 summit occurs as Oxfam reports the global total-of-billionaires has surpassed 3,000 for the first time, with their collective-wealth increasing by 81% since 2020. 
  
  

While the exact, final number-of-billionaires at the 2026 World Economic Forum in Davos is not officially released, reports indicate that a significant, large-contingent of the world's richest-individuals is in attendance amongst roughly 3,000 global-leaders. Additionally, nearly 400 millionaires and billionaires from 24 countries are engaging in the event to call for higher-taxes on the super-rich.

The sentiment among billionaires towards wealth taxes and measures to address inequality is divided. A small, vocal group actively advocates for higher taxes on the super-rich, while the majority generally remains opposed, or is focused on other solutions like philanthropy and technological innovation.

Part 3- Climate justice chants. Protesters targeted Billionaires' Row and Trump Tower with  chants like"Power to the People" and "Make Billionaires Pay.

This protest chant is a variation of a traditional call-and-response chant.

In  2025, 2024 my posts slowed down. Not my photos and videos. I was still "out there" covering many protests and rallies. (Flickr and you tube; even IG were my outlets) but, my ability to put it all to 'paper' slowly came to a halt. Twenty some years and I hit the brick wall of repetition. With the New Year, seems many fine patriots have expressed a similar fatigue as the Left-machine repeats and repeats relentlessly;

• The Paradox of Efficiency: While repetition helps build neural pathways and strengthens skills (muscle memory), it can lead to inattention, causing the brain to miss changes or make mistakes in mundane tasks.
• Cognitive "Blindness": If a task is too repetitive, the brain may stop consciously processing it, causing a temporary, functional "blindness" to the information. 

Repetition can be ... detrimental for engagement, creating a need for variety to combat mental numbness.

BUT, the protests and rallies resist change.

"Journalism is Not a Crime" rally took place in Foley Square, New York City, on October 1, 2025.

Following the raid/arrest of a photojournalist + ICE assaults on press at 26 Federal Plaza (amid nationwide spike in assaults on press), a press conference/rally was organized by photojournalists (on the Left) in protest against attacks on the press in NYC & beyond.....to advocate for First Amendment protections following multiple incidents of alleged assault and intimidation by law enforcement (specifically ICE agents at 26 Federal Plaza Immigration Court).

....the last time the NYC press corp organized a public demo, it was a vigil for journalists killed in Gaza. At the time, the number was 36.

.The following is a list that included NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. I did not stay to hear all the speakers.

Key individuals involved in the rally or who spoke were:

• Talia Jane: An independent reporter and one of the primary organizers who addressed the crowd and explained the incidents that led to the rally.
• Jumaane Williams: The New York City Public Advocate, who spoke about the violence faced by journalists from law enforcement and called on the Manhattan District Attorney to drop charges against a photojournalist.
• Alexa Wilkinson: A New York-based photojournalist whose arrest and subsequent hate crime charges (which she pled not guilty to) were a central focus of the protest.
• Ian Bartlett: Another journalist mentioned by organizers as having been arrested by police.
• Neil Constantine and Josh Pacheco: Photographers/journalists who were thanked by organizers for their involvement.
• An amNewYork reporter and a Turkish journalist (Vural Elibol) who were reportedly assaulted by ICE agents at 26 Federal Plaza Immigration Court shortly before the rally. 

• Michael Loeb: An individual who spoke during a press conference segment, raising concerns about journalistic practices regarding the privacy of children's faces. 

Also, Leigh Kunkel: A Chicago journalist who spoke via phone about being shot with a pepper ball by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The raison d'etre for the rally remained Alexa Wilkinson:  

.Police arrested and charged photographer Alexa Wilkinson with aggravated harassment and hate crimes. The speakers urged people to contact the Manhattan District Attorney's office to demand the charges against Alexa Wilkinson be dropped.

 

The charges stemmed from a July 30th incident Wilkinson reported on in which protesters covered the NY Times headquarters in Manhattan with graffiti.

Protesters charged the New York Times with complicity in the Gaza genocide because of its pro-Zionist reporting and editorial policies.

Wilkinson allegedly shared screenshots of an X post that read--‘They hanged newspaper editors at Nuremberg’ (a reference to the Nazi journalist Julius Streicher.)

The complaint said Wilkinson captioned the screenshots with the phrase ‘Looking at you (Joseph Kahn),’ referring to the NYTimes’ executive editor.” 

 

"The New York Times has an endless list of ties to the "IOF" and “israel”, as well as a clear bias towards Zionist and imperialist propaganda which manufacturers consent for the horrors we are live-streaming from Gaza day-after-day."

While the New York Times and its executive editor Joe Kahn have been targeted by various groups for their war crimes, the building itself has remained relatively untouched ... until now. ...
