Emergency Action for Gaza
Emergency Action For Al-Shifa Hospital
Before the protest began, the 'pali" protestors set an American flag on fire.
Nerdeen Kiswani ".... It's not enough to hate Israel in your hearts.
See you in the streets, shutting things down for Gaza.
Our anger and rage is not enough!"
(see video for entire speech)
Opening Chants: Israel bombs. USA pays, how many kids did you kill today. Gaza, Gaza you will rise, "palestine" will never die.
Text of 10 min video of Nerdeen Kiswani speech follows:
Mic Check. (repeat after me) We are once again protesting against the invasion, the genocide, the murders; the starvation and torture of the "palestinian" people. Carried out by the United States and Israel. Believe me, in Gaza they are not crying: They are bleeding. We are crying. While our faces are covered in tears, their faces are stained with blood. And the hands of Eric Adams, of Kathy Hochul and Joe Biden are covered in the blood of the "palestinian" people.
Once again in Ramadan what is supposed to be a holy, peaceful time (......) continue to escalate the genocide against the "palestinian" people. It did not start on October 7th, it started in 1948. The "palestinian" people have been experiencing genocide for over 76 years. For years we have protested, trying to tell the world that Israel will never stop until all our people are dead; until all our land is colonized. And today, we see over 40,000 "palestinians" killed, in just the last few months alone. Over 12,000 of them children. But the world is still silent. (....) ... that every single person in this country, including ourselves, are complicit in the genocide of the "palestinian" people.
So when we come our here it is because it is our duty, because our tax dollars are going to send the weapons that are killing people in Gaza. The genocide we see unfolding to our eyes is being carried out by your tax dollars. By this country, the USA. So make no mistake, it is not just Israel carrying out this genocide, it's the United States of America.
On the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, we are reminded that the brutality of the USA knows no bounds. They killed a million people in Iraq. They killed millions of indigenous people. They killed millions of African people. And they will continue to fund and support, this .... and plunder all over the world. From Palestine to Sudan. From Congo to Haiti. From Kashmir to ...., the US's hands are covered in the blood of all our peoples.
So we demand .... (cease of the) blockade ... end of all U.S. aid to Israel. An end of the colonization of "palestine". An end of U.S. Imperialism because what they are doing to "palestine" today is what they will do to your people tomorrow, if they haven't already done so.
This country is built on the blood of the people they continue to oppress. And our people in Gaza are experiencing a holocaust that the world still refuses to see. If you have ever asked yourselves what you would do at the time of the holocaust, you are doing now. This is exactly what you're doing. And for all of the people, (not by) 'palestine' when it was a (tract), but are not here now... know that right now in Gaza, the "palestinian" people are in imminent danger of massive starvation. They' re already starving. They're already going thru famine. Their homes have been destroyed. Their hospitals have been destroyed. They are doing surgery without anesthesia. People who continue to die of their wounds. Children will continue to starve to death.
So Gaza needs our voices now more than ever. Israel is banking on the world forgetting. They are banking on you turning away. So it is our job to make the world bear witness. So that no one can say they didn't know. Know that no one can say they didn't have an opportunity to stop the holocaust in its tracks. What's happening in "palestine" is nothing less than a holocaust. It's a genocide. Ethnic cleansing. And it needs to be stopped by any means necessary. By Any Means Necessary. By Any Means Necessary. We take these words from Malcolm X, not just as a revolutionary (... ? but reality...) resistance of Filistines who are putting everything on the line to protect their families and the land. This is the least we can do. This is the bottom of the barrel. This is the very least we owe our people in "palestine" because we are funding this. We are paying for this.
And I say this to everyone in the crowd, not just the Muslims: it's not enough to hate Israel in your heart. It's not enough to say you're pro-"palestine". It's not enough to post about it. We should be taking direct action every day. Shame on everyone who is not doing so. Calling yourself pro-'palestine" is not enough. We need to see you in the streets. We need to see you shutting things down for Gaza. Our anger and rage is not enough .(Traffic noise) for Gaza is not enough. But, when we say this is the least we can do, this is what we mean: (shouting)
Free, Free"palestine". Free,Free,Free "palestine." From the River to the Sea, 'palestine' will be free. There is only one solution:Intifada revolution. Intifada. Intifada. Long live the Intifada. From New York to "palestine" There will (... ) be intifada. There is only one solution. Intifada Revolution. There is only one solution: INTIFADA.

After Zuccotti .... the WOL crowd protested NYC Mayor Adams and "the traitors "at the iftar party across from New York City Hall (outside Surrogates Court)
INFO re Ramadan/Iftar: Ramadan 2024 began in the evening on Sunday, March 10, 2024 and ends on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. IFTAR is the meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast after sunset every day during Ramadan.
This is the report on the protest published by Within Our Lifetime:
In response to the zionist entity’s siege of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in North Gaza on Sunday, March 17, we called for an emergency action alongside Healthcare Workers for Palestine at Zuccotti Park to show the world that New York stands against the ongoing genocide and its continuous escalations. This was the first protest WOL hosted during the month of Ramadan this year, marked by grief and loss as the people of Gaza are continually starved, displaced, murdered, and tortured while Palestinians are banned from entering Masjid Al-Aqsa to pray.
Before the rally began, journalists filmed dozens of cops dressed in riot gear all around Zuccotti Park. The moment we started chanting, NYPD’s Timothy Beaudette attempted to put on a show of force by barging through the crowd and threatening to arrest organizers for allegedly using sound amplification devices. We continued to lead chants and raise our voices for Palestine unbothered and began marching shortly thereafter. As soon as the march began, police attacked protestors indiscriminately and targeted multiple WOL organizers for arrest, hoping to decapitate the march by disappearing its leaders. ... Eventually, everyone reconvened at 31 Chambers St, where we took the streets and sidewalks outside of Eric Adams’ Iftar dinner, a desperate attempt to tokenize Muslims and co-opt the community’s faith to whitewash his unbridled support for genocide and contempt of Muslim political expression. As we protested, we broke our fast with water and dates on the streets of our city and continued chanting against the fascist, zionist mayor. A community member came out after disrupting the event and informed us that there were hardly any Muslims present at all. Even this desperate photo-op was a bust, showing that our people will not stand with genocide supporters and will not give them any opportunity to use us for political points.
